This post contains affiliate links in which I make a profit on. But as one mama to another, I wouldn’t recommend anything that I didn’t love!
Additionally, I am not a doctor; just a mama basing this information off of my own experiences as a mother, athlete, and prior research. Please consult your doctor before proceeding with any of the following information!
Do you understand the importance of nourishing your body after you have had your baby?
Are you taking the right vitamins and supplements to give yourself the best postpartum recovery as possible?
Mama, these are the essentials that I find most important in following a healthy journey after childbirth.
Okay, this is simple! A good multivitamin provides you with the vitamins and minerals that are necessary for everyday functioning.
For my breastfeeding mama’s out there, This is a good one for my breastfeeding mamas, to improve your milk supply.
Remember all of the blood you lost during birth? Now, chances are your body is VERY low on iron. Taking an iron supplement replenishes your body and helps with your low energy levels (which we all know could use a little [big] boost).
The Floradix Iron & Herbs is a great one because it aids pregnant and lactating women.
Probiotic & Digestive Enzymes
These guys are IMPORTANT!
Probiotic is the good bacteria that fight against illnesses. In simple, these guys are key to strengthening your immune system; and as a bonus, great for your baby to consume in your breast milk.
Both a probiotic and Digestive Enzymes help in weight loss after having a baby which can be an added bonus too!
Try REDCON1’s GI Juice, if you are looking for a good one. I love this one because it acts as both a probiotic and digestive enzyme, as well as has many other health benefits. Seriously, Mama, this one supplement has changed the way my digestive system processes things and I can’t speak highly enough about it!

Omega 3 – Fatty Acids
If you are going through this after childbirth journey with postpartum depression, I’ve been there and totally get it. However, taking Omega 3’s may help. Along with regulating your postpartum hormones, these supplements improve blood flow during exercise, increase your metabolism and one more thing… You know that joint pain that you have from (I’m just going to lay it out there) a baby spreading your hips and coming out of your whoha , Omega 3’s can help with that too!
I love this one because it’s cold pressed, which simply just means that it is more concentrated than most. I am also a distributor for their company because of how great I believe the product is.
The long list of benefits should reveal the importance of collagen peptides!
- Helps with hair, skin, and nails (You know, that postpartum hair loss and hormonal skin problems you may be having)
- Regulates your hormones
- Tightens and smooths loose skin (Yes, we are proud of our postpartum bodies, but yes, who wouldn’t want a little smoothing and tightening)
- Strengthens all the muscles DOWN THERE (Including helps your uterus shrink back to normal)
- Aids gut health
Okay, not technically a supplement,. But I feel that the smartest way to get the right amount of protein in is through a protein powder!
I love this one by REDCON1 because it’s dairy-free (for my dairy-free breastfeeding mamas out there) and it has all whole foods in it. I use it every day in my smoothie, along with my collagen and Probiotic/Digestive Enzyme.

Slippery Elm Bark
Similar to collagen, slippery elm bark also has many benefits to you during your postnatal journey.
- It soothes your digestive system and is anti-inflammatory
- Helps with circulation
- Improves skin (you can also make a face mask out of it)
- You can put it on your gums to help soothe the swelling
