Additionally, I am not a doctor; just a mama basing this information off my own experiences as a mother, athlete, and prior research. Please consult your doctor , midwife, or pediatrician before proceeding with any of the following information!
PROTEIN; it is one of the most important components of a breastfeeding mama’s diet. Did you know, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, the average breastfeeding mother should consume a minimum of 65 grams of protein per day! However, the reality is that it can be difficult to get enough protein your body actually needs during a day-to-day busy mom schedule. That’s when a protein smoothie comes to your rescue!

Why do I love this specific recipe?
I love this recipe because it is high in protein, whole foods based, and is SO GOOD for your digestive system. (wave postpartum bloating goodbye!) While all of these elements are important to me, this protein
smoothie recipe also tastes great and is very easy to make with your one free hand (because we all know the other hand is holding your sweet baby).
Why this Protein Smoothie has changed my health game?
The pineapple in this recipe are especially great because they are full of Vitamin C, making them a serious immune system supporter. Additionally, they aid in bone strength and have several digestive/anti-inflammatory benefits.
Awesome Breastfeeding Benefits: The anti-inflammatory advantages can help with engorgement too!
Likewise to pineapple, Blueberries aid in bone strength as well as, build collagen with their high potency of Vitamin C. Blueberries are also very anti-inflammatory and can do amazing things such as improve heart health, in addition too preventing cancer. Crazy right?! These super-foods also are energy boosters (which is a must for us moms) and help in weight loss (bonus, they are filling, yet low in calories).
Awesome Breastfeeding Benefits: They are high in antioxidants which pass down through your breast milk to your baby while promoting better milk flow.
Again, this smoothie ingredient helps with bone strength and promotes energy. Additionally, chia seeds
are high in fiber making them great for you digestive system, are a great omega 3, and act as a prebiotic.
Awesome Breastfeeding Benefits: While breastfeeding, us mamas lose a large amount of nutrients to our babies. Chia seeds are a great way to replenish the vital minerals that your body is lacking in.
are seriously great. To say the least, these bad boys are amazing for your joints, build muscle, are energy and metabolism boosters, balance your hormones (which we definitely all need- THOSE POSTPARTUM HORMONES THOUGH), strengthen your hair, nails, and teeth, and most importantly help heal leaky gut.
Awesome Breastfeeding Benefits: This really is awesome mamas, although not totally breastfeeding related! Collagen reduces cellulite and stretch marks! It is so good for your skin! Speaking from experience, it really does help with those postpartum breakouts.
I love this stuff because the proteins in this are all whole foods (real foods). For this reason, instead of containing whey protein, it contains beef protein, salmon protein, chicken protein, egg albumin, brown rice protein, and pea protein, making it DAIRY-FREE! While you are probably thinking, “beef protein in a smoothie, ewww gross”, it is actually extremely tasty (which is rare for a dairy-free protein powder).
Awesome Breastfeeding Benefits: All of the whole foods (real foods) that you are consuming, your baby is absorbing too. Additionally, it is an excellent, easy, and SPEEDY protein source to replenish your body.
